As you probably know by now, Nexus is 30 this year!
With that in mind, I thought you might be interested to know why my dad John started Nexus all those years ago.
Back in 1987, Dad had been working with Datakey for a couple of years already, and had an understanding of how good the product was.
It was that understanding that led him to explore how he could get the products out to a wider audience, especially in the industrial electronics space.
It was on a family holiday in Florida when he decided to go ahead and ‘sign on’ to become the Datakey distributor for the UK and Ireland, and he flew straight to Minneapolis to sign the papers.
The signing went off without a hitch, but the same can’t be said for Dad’s wardbrobe – he only had clothes for the Florida’s 20C heat, so the -6C in Minneapolis took him by surprise!
But freezing temperatures and lack of jackets notwithstanding, Nexus was born.
The company’s mission from the word ‘go’ was very simple:
To help design engineers working with embedded systems design and build better, faster and more secure applications.
Thirty years on, our mission is exactly the same, and the Datakey technology is still as industry leading and application changing as it was back in 1987.
